What to expect at your appointment
Consultation
Your podiatrist will take a full medical, circulatory & lifestyle history at your initial consultation and will advise if nail surgery is the right course of action.
Surgery
Surgery will be conducted under local anaesthetic and once the offending nail has been removed the area is treated with a chemical called phenol, to prevent the problem reoccurring.
Aftercare
You will have 2 follow up appointments to ensure the wound heals correctly and you will be provided with a dressings pack to replace your dressings at home to reduce risk of infection.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the fee for nail surgery?
We aim to provide professional, affordable foot care at all times. Our nail surgery fee therefore reflects the high standard of treatment and aftercare we provide.
How many appointments will I need?
You will generally need 3-4 appointments.
The first is your initial assessment so we can see the affected nail or nails and assess whether nail surgery is required.
The second is the day of the surgery.
The third and forth are the follow-up reviews and dressing changes (all dressings will be provided).
Who is suitable for nail surgery?
With a few exceptions, most people are suitable for nail surgery. The only exceptions are those who have a medical contraindication to anaesthetic or have poor wound healing.
