medical pedicure

At David Brown Podiatry our team of podiatrists are registered with the Health & Care Professions Council to provide foot care for all ages and activity levels

What is medical pedicure?

A medical pedicure includes a full routine treatment, followed by a relaxing wax being applied to your feet. Paraffin wax heat therapy increases blood flow, tolerance for pain, relaxes muscles and increases hydration in the skin. Intended to moisturise and soften the skin while providing a therapeutic and healing effect to sore and aching joints. Making it particularly beneficial for those suffering from arthritis and rheumatic pain.

Assessment

Before any treatment, your practitioner will undertake a visual and sometimes physical examination to assess the cause of your condition and the treatment plan they will follow to achieve the best outcome.

How many treatments will I need?

Simple conditions such as corns and calluses (hard skin) and minor nail complaints are treated in one session.

Recurring conditions and those that need a treatment  plan such as verrucae, fungal infections etc. often need regular treatment.

The treatment plan is determined by your podiatrist, who will discuss this with you.

Who can receive this treatment?

With a few exceptions, most people will benefit from a routine foot appointment as we always assess your general and lower limb health together with the treatment we provide.

Routine podiatry is as important as regular dental and optical check-ups in maintaining your general health and wellbeing.
