In this appointment we will identify any issues and conduct a full treatment which may include nails cut and filed, removal of corns and callus. We use a state of the art water spray drill to give you the best finish to skin and nails, and each treatment is finished with a high quality moisturising cream being applied. Skin conditions, fungal infections and verruca may also be treated in this appointment.
* After initial appointment, if you decide to re-book, your podiatrist may deem you suitable for a part treatment (reduced cost) if it is just regular nail cutting you require.
The medical pedicure is a luxury treatment which begins with a full routine podiatry treatment (as above), followed by an essential oils foot rub, using a vitamin rich oil which is rapidly absorbed, containing hand selected pure essential oils including benzoin, bay, chamomile, eucalyptus, frankincense, lavender and myrrh. Prendé warm wax is then applied to the skin using an ultra soft brush, after the wax is removed the treatment is finished off with high quality foot moisturiser.
Conditions that benefit from this treatment are: chilblains, arthritis, eczema and psoriasis, sore feet, stiff joints, poor circulation, bursitis, inflammation, tendonitis, sports injury, hard skin.
We use a variety of treatments to fight verrucas such as cryotherapy or acids to stimulate your immune system which would usually be included in your routine podiatry appointment. However, in more persistent or painful verruca we offer a more invasive treatment called needling which is conducted under local anesthetic. The area affected is then punctured multiple times to create an immune response and a recent study shows approximately 70% success rate which we have also found in our clinical experiences.
Ingrowing toe nails can be very painful and we aim to treat these conservatively in clinic. In some cases nail surgery may be necessary because too much damage has already been done or nail shape may increase the risk of further problems. Nail Surgery is conducted under local anaesthetic, when the toe is numb we then remove a narrow piece of nail from the side causing the problem or the whole nail. In most cases we administer a chemical called phenol to the nail bed to prevent regrowth. Your nail is dressed in a sterile dressing and we monitor you for 4-6 weeks to ensure it heals as expected. We also provide you with dressings and instructions for self care at home between appointments.
Medical history is taken and a review of your diabetes management is discussed. Full neurological and circulatory assessment is carried out followed by Podosmart gait analysis provides detailed information showing how weight is distributed through the feet. Using this data we can identify any areas under increased pressure and at risk of ulceration, we can then offer advice and solutions to help in offloading these areas and reduce those risks.
We provide a podiatry service to a number of care homes around the North West area and can offer a reduced cost for block bookings. We also offer home visits for those that find it difficult to attend clinic. We appreciate the need to care for elderly people or those less able and we offer the same high standard of treatment as we would in our clinic.
